Call for Government Action on World Day against Trafficking in Persons
The United Nations is promoting a global campaign of calling governments to action against modern-day enslavement on World Day against Trafficking in Persons.
By the 1990s, human rights violations in Vietnam continued unchecked, and it became apparent that a unified front of human rights activists was indispensable. In November 1997, an international consortium of Vietnamese human rights leaders and activists assembled in Santa Ana, California for the establishment of a coalition with the following goals:
To promote human rights, civil liberties and all other basic freedoms entitled to all Vietnamese citizens set forth by the United Nations in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and subsequent international human rights instruments
