Learn how incarcerated labor is a form of modern-day slavery.
Volunteer Opportunities: Yes
Motivated by both the troubling reality of modern-day slavery and the core values of Judaism, T'ruah launched the Jewish Campaign to End Slavery and Human Trafficking. T'ruah is leading the charge from within the Jewish community against modern-day slavery and human trafficking, focusing on the issue of slavery in supply chains through a collaboration with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers. By educating the Jewish community about the issue of forced labor and equipping individuals to take action, T'ruah engages the Jewish community to end trafficking and empowers individuals to make a difference.
T'ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights brings together rabbis and cantors from all streams of Judaism, together with all members of the Jewish community, to act on the Jewish imperative to respect and advance the human rights of all people. Grounded in the Torah and our Jewish historical experience and guided by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we call upon Jews to assert Jewish values by raising our voices and taking concrete steps to protect and expand human rights in North America, Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories.
