The Exodus Road began with the work of co-founders Matt and Laura Parker. While living in Southeast Asia with their family in April 2010, Matt and Laura directed a children’s home for hill-tribe girls in rural Northern Thailand. During that time, the Parkers encountered marginalized people groups that were vulnerable to human trafficking. After a period of research, Matt was deputized by police and started working personally to find those trapped in slavery as an undercover investigator. After investigating hundreds of bars and brothels throughout SE Asia with police, in January of 2012 Matt and Laura began The Exodus Road with the belief that justice is in the hands of ordinary people.
Matt and Laura have since been joined by a diverse group of committed staff and volunteers. Headquartered in Colorado Springs, CO, The Exodus Road operates in India, Thailand, Latin America, Brazil, and the Philippines.
Today, The Exodus Road is a rapidly growing non-profit focused on bringing strategic solutions to the counter-trafficking movement through unique educational tools for prevention and awareness, covert investigations to support law enforcement in building human trafficking cases, and trauma-informed aftercare to partner with survivors in their restoration.
