Volunteer Opportunities: Yes

History

Ratanak International began its journey in Cambodia in 1989 when Brian McConaghy saw video footage of the death of a helpless child who had no access to basic medicine. Over 20 years later, Ratanak International has grown into a global organization, with dedicated and passionate volunteers in Canada, Australia, the UK, the U.S. and Cambodia. The plight of orphans and abused children has led to partnership with trusted Christian organizations in the provision of schools, orphanages and shelters. Partnerships like these have also been key in developing literacy, sanitation and social services programs both in local communities and prisons. In 2004, these projects continued to impact many lives, but the work of Ratanak International also took on a whole new dimension as it began partnering on projects that rescue and rehabilitate victims of sex slavery.

Mission

To serve the people of Cambodia by being an agent of change in Cambodia’s social, economic and spiritual landscape

Vision

We see Cambodian people, once vulnerable, oppressed and exploited, living in Christian hope with dignity with access to social services, health care and quality education.
