Volunteer Opportunities: Yes

Our History

In 2005, SMASH (School of Modern Arts, Salsa and Hip Hop) Dance was founded in Las Vegas by former Vegas Performer, Lisa Valdes Romero. Through SMASH Dance, Lisa catered to children’s dance programs, sponsored many community events and raised money for the homeless youth of Nevada. Her organization provided cultural programs such as salsa and belly dance for kids. By awarding scholarships to students in need, these programs created a safe and positive outlet for the local urban youth. In 2009, Lisa, her husband and SMASH Dance relocated to San Antonio, TX. To continue giving back to the community, the NuSMASH Project was formed and declared a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. As of 2017, NuSMASH Project is officially known as Project SMASH.

Our Mission

To inspire others through the arts of dance, fitness, and music. Our approach to help those recovering from abuse through dance and fitness equips our students to live happier healthier more confident lives. We will use the success of this project as a blueprint to expand nationwide.

Our Vision

To expand our much needed programs is essential to achieve the success of higher class attendance and improved behavior of our students. To fulfill our vision we need to certify more instructors and provide transportation for them to visit our partners.
