Understand How Human Trafficking Affects Communities of Color
February is Black History Month in the United States. Honor this holiday by understanding how human trafficking affects communities of color.
The Institute for Development, Education and Action (IDEA) is a secular, non-government development organization launched by the representatives of community organizers and leaders in 1986 in an aim to steer the region towards prosperity. In this effort, IDEA also aims to establish partnerships with community groups to uplift the overall socio-economic condition of the rural and urban poor. The organization operates in the rural and urban areas of East Midnapore, Howrah and Kolkata districts of West Bengal and Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu in India. IDEA aims to reduce human trafficking and slavery in the most vulnerable communities of East Champaran in Bihar. To address trafficking, IDEA undertakes community mobilization for economic empowerment, youth group formation, vocational training for trafficking victims, advocacy to enable officials to take up their responsibilities, as well as rescue and help with recovery.
