AusCam Freedom Project was founded on January 18, 2012 as a direct response to the human rights abuses affecting young women and children in Cambodia. The mission is to provide programs that would not only address the factors that contribute to the issues of human trafficking, sexual violence, rape, abandonment, homelessness and gender inequality but also provide the support structures to ensure that young women and girls could have an opportunity, choices and ultimately freedom in being able to live a healthy, empowered and sustainable life. Founders Geoff and Julie Dowse from the eastern suburbs of Sydney moved to Cambodia in 2010 to take up positions working within the international aid and development sector.
To enhance the life opportunities of young Cambodian women who have experienced trauma in their lives through violence, poverty, abandonment, homelessness, sexual exploitation or human trafficking; to cultivate the next generation of strong, resilient and independent women
AusCam Freedom Project envisages a society where young women have opportunity, choices and freedom to fulfill their dreams and aspirations and where young women feel empowered, valued and supported.
