Watch CNN’s “Libya’s Slaves: I Was Sold”

It happened. A man was sold for $400 in a Libyan slave auction. And CNN caught it on film.

In November of 2017, CNN captured video footage of enslaved peoples in Libya in a modern day slave auction. The video footage and investigative report detailed the horrific modern day slavery conditions occurring in Libya, a country that is seen as the main transit point for refugees and migrants trying to escape to Europe by sea.

In CNN’s short documentary, “Libya’s Slaves: I was Sold,” it tells the story of a man named Victory, a Nigerian immigrant who sought to reach Europe for better economic opportunities. He was captured and sold into slavery instead. You can watch the video here.
